Information Session about Scamming

Category: News

Many thanks to all those residents who came along to the very informative presentation given by PCSO Richie Davidson and his colleagues. Many of you talked about some of the scams you have encountered and we discussed ways to help avoid being caught out by criminals in the future.

PCSO Davidson has sent us links to various current publications advising about ways to keep safe and the Residents’ Association will be emailing these out to members over the next couple of weeks.

You can find Richie’s contact details on our Links page but if you wish to report any fraud please contact Sussex Police on the non emergency number 101, or you can use the textphone service on 18001 101 if you have a hearing or speech impediment. You can also call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 ( Monday – Friday 8am to 8pm)

Our thanks go to Richie and his team for the very much appreciated advice and guidance he and his team provided.

Entertainment Evening

Category: Past Events

A huge thank you to all that came along to this sparkling evening of chatter, dance and fun last Friday (9th Feb)

Over 80 of us enjoyed the great music provided by the very popular couple Barney and Paula who make up DUALITY. There was dancing from the get go and everyone seemed to enjoy the chance to banish those winter blues!

Together with the raffle we raised a significant sum to go towards community projects. If you would like a say in how the money is spent, please join us for our AGM on Monday 20th May – we want to hear your ideas.

More images can be found in the gallery section.

THURSDAY 29th FEBRUARY 2.00 pm in the village hall.

Police information session – SCAMS

Category: Past Events

Our local Police Community Support Officer, Richie Davidson, will be coming down to our village hall on Thursday 29th February at 2.00 pm to speak to us about SCAMS. This hopefully will be particularly helpful in light of the recent increase in this type of fraud.

PCSO Davidson will also be bringing some useful leaflets and stickers to give out to residents.

If you would like to attend but need a lift to the hall and back please remember Community Watch volunteers are happy to provide transport for you.

RA Environmental Group

Organised by the East Dean Litter Pickers WhatsApp group, with support from the RA Environment Group, eight people braved a very windy but dry and sunny, January Saturday to remove litter from the A259. We spent about three hours clearing both sides of the road from the East Dean bus stop up to the golf course, a distance of about 1.8 miles (almost 3 km). A similar litter pick was done by the group in February last year.

Twelve large bags of rubbish were collected, much of it plastic wrappers, plastic bottles and drinks tins, but also various discarded car parts. The bags have all been removed and will go into domestic bins or be taken to the Council dump. It represents the best part of a year’s accumulation of rubbish and shows that our roads are still getting unnecessarily littered.

Neighbourhood Planning update

Category: News Archive

You are warmly invited to an Open Evening to be held on Monday 29th January 2024, starting at 7.30 pm in the Main Hall, where the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group will update the community on the projected contents of the Plan they are working on, and the timescale. The Group could still do with an additional member, so if you feel able to contribute, please do contact Cllr Bustard or the Deputy Clerk.

As part of the Neighbourhood Plan project, we’d really like to collect views and images of our parish that reflect what makes it a special place. Our photograph competition is open to all ages and abilities. We would love it if you could send in your favourite photos, which can be submitted in one or more of the following categories:

  • Local green spaces
  • Notable buildings
  • Favourite view – either of landscape or within the villages

Please submit a maximum of two photos per category along with your name and contact details (and parental permission if required); the location where the photo was taken; and a short description of the content of the photograph. Then email to: admin@edfparishcouncil.org.uk

The competition is open to all ages (entrants under age 18 will need parental permission) and abilities – whether you are a complete beginner using your phone, or more experienced with a full camera set up. We want to celebrate what is special in our villages!

All entries will be displayed locally and a judging panel will select Highly Commended entries in all categories and one overall winner will receive a voucher for £15.

The full rules of the competition please contact Katrina Larkin at admin@edfparishcouncil.org.uk
