Your voice as local residents

Village Volunteers, Team Grit and the Fete Committee

Village volunteers

From time to time we need volunteers to call upon for community events, fund raisers and occasionally emergencies that impact the village and surrounding areas.

If you are interested in being on our Residents’ Association volunteer list you can just let our chairperson know by emailing them on edfresidentsassociation@gmail.com

There is no obligation, we will just let you know when there is a need, and if you can help out then that would be great.

Team Grit

Team Grit was set up about 15 years ago with the aim to try and keep key access areas and junctions within the East Dean Estate more readily passable in the event of snow or icy weather. Volunteers throughout the estate hold a small quantity of salt/grit that can be deployed when necessary.

Team Grit has no responsibility to maintain the safety of the East Dean Estate and is solely there to try and help where it can within the limits of the small amount of salt/grit that is stored at the volunteer locations.

In the event of snow or icy weather, Team Grit can be contacted on edfresidentsassociation@gmail.com

Fete Committee

The East Dean & Friston Fete is held in July each year on the Greensward (weather permitting). The objective is to bring villagers and friends together to have an enjoyable traditional fete during the afternoon, raising funds for charitable causes.

The Fete has a theme each year, which is played out in the central arena, with interludes filled with traditional music from a local band.

We have a vintage car show with 60 plus cars of all ages to enjoy.

Delicious food and drink is provided by a range of local businesses, charities and organisations.

There are 30 plus stalls selling a wide range of goods, charities and groups providing subjects of interest, and many activities for youngsters to enjoy.

Finally, the fete is free, as is the parking, underwritten by the Residents Association, a small grant from the Parish Council and donations from generous local businesses.

If you would like to join our small fete committee and get involved in helping make this event the highlight of the year for all residents and friends then please drop me a line via the contact page. Any help you can offer is always greatly appreciated!
