The villages of East Dean and Friston are located between the coastal towns of Eastbourne and Seaford, half a mile inland from the white cliffs of the Seven Sisters.
We have an active and vibrant community. The Residents’ Association provides members with:
- A Voice: The Residents’ Association speaks for the community on matters of importance, linking with outside agencies such as the South Downs National Park Authority as well as local bodies such as the East Dean Roads Company and the Parish Council. During the Neighbourhood Planning process it is a key vehicle for gathering and articulating the views of residents.
- Information: A Welcome Pack is provided for new residents giving village information and advertising local clubs and societies. All members have ongoing access to regular email updates regarding local issues and events.
- Support: Funds are raised via subscriptions, activities and the Annual Village Fete. They are used to help support local village groups and activities, such as the recent Royal celebrations.
- Environment: The Residents’ Association funded and continues to help maintain the Greensward, a registered Village Green on Deneside. Funds have also been used to purchase replacement street name plates and to buy trees and wildflowers to enhance the village environment.
